The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Sunday said 1,300 persons were displaced in weekend’s attacks on Borno State by Boko Haram insurgents.
The agency, in a statement by its North East Zonal Coordinator, Bashir Garga lamented that three communities Dala Malari, Fuguri, and Femani were attacked by the insurgents.
He said during the attacks on all the three communities, which are in Jere local government area of Borno State, a person was killed.
He however called on citizens to be vigilant and report suspicious movements and persons to security agents.
He lamented that attacks on soft targets continued to be the hallmark of the insurgents, insisting that this may not be unconnected to increased military clampdown that has curtailed their activities.
He noted that presently humanitarian partners are being mobilized to cater for the victims of weekend’s attacks as soon as possible.
