Twenty errant Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) officers are to face disciplinary actions for extortion and high handedness, LASTMA’s Deputy General Manager Comptroller Isaac Adetimiro said yesterday.

He said three of the affected officers whose cases have been investigated would be facing the disciplinary committee known as the Personnel Management Board, (PMB), which would adjudicate their cases in line with the Public Service Rules, adding that the remaining 17 officers accused of other misdemeanours are still under investigation.

“We will continue to be on the look-out for officers involved in any misdemeanor by increasing our monitoring and surveillance on officers at their duty posts to ensure they are civil to the populace as well as eschew corruption in the discharge of their duties”, Adetimiro stated.

He said the agency would continue to mete stiff and severe punishment on officials and men in its effort to weed the agency of bad elements tarnishing its image.

The DGM also used the opportunity to implore all road users in the State to change their attitudes and obey traffic regulations at all times in order to avoid incessant traffic gridlock being experienced on across the metropolis.
