2003 WWC: Waldrum fires warning to England ahead potential Round of 16 clash

Waldrum

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum says his team is ready to face England in the Round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The former African champions booked a spot in the Round of 16 after they were held to a 0-0 draw by the already-eliminated Republic of Ireland at Brisbane Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Waldrum’s side will confront the first-place team in Group D in the Round of 16.

European champions England currently top the standings in the group with six points. Denmark and China have three points each.

England are tipped to secure first place in the group, which will see the Three Lionesses set up an explosive clash with the Super Falcons.

Waldrum is, however, not afraid of coming up against England.

“It’s going to be another great team. If it’s England, it’s the European champions,” Waldrum told reporters.

“We have already played the Olympic gold medalist; we’ve already played the host nation, so it’s just going to be another of those matches that we’ve already been playing in.”
