Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwoke Wike, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who now goes with the acronym NEW, held a closed-door meeting with some governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC who had paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Rivers State.

Sunrise News confirmed the governors present at the meeting are the Chairman Nigeria’s Governors Forum, who is also the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Chairman of the SouthWest Governor’s Forum, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos States.

The visiting Governors being received by Governor Wike and his friend and former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Also in attendance are the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji; while former Ekiti State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Ayodele Fayose, had jpined Wike to receive the APC governors, who had come into the state with some of their aides.

There has been some tension within the PDP highest echelon over Wike’s treatment by the winner of the PDP’s presidential ticket, Atiku Abubakar, who ignored the decision of the 17-member committee of the party set up to pick a running mate for him.

Fayemi in a light banter with the host said the governors are in Rivers to meet a member of the family, describing Wike as a political associate.

Sunrise News gathered the governor are in Rivers to see the possibility of getting the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike to work for the actualisation of the life ambition of the APC flagbearer Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Wike and Fayose are said to be two frontline PDP chieftains who have demonstrated tacit support for the APC flagbearer’s ambition to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari as the 16th Nigerian President.

Two weeks ago, Fayose, also a Presidential aspirant of the PDP had punctured his party’s dumping of the zoning arrangement insisting that he would support power rotation to the South.

Wike has been causing quite a huge disquiet in the PDP following the emergence of his rival Governor Okowa as the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP. His followers had been insisting of the removal of the party’s National Chairman Prof Iyorchia Ayu, for his role in the turn of event, even as they carpeted the former Vice President and PDP flagbearer Atiku Abubakar for single-handedly upturning the result of the 17-member committee set up to screen the three Vice Presidential candidates.
