Former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha has been asked to seek the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.
A group of women, under the aegis of Woddi Women Voices, made the demand when they visited the lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial District in the National Assembly on Thursday in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the leader of the group, Dr. Nneoma Okorocha, said, “These women you are seeing here are not here because of political party or religion or ethnicity; they are here because they want a good Nigeria. We cannot afford to fold our hands anymore.”
Women leaders who spoke at the event were; Betty Oluntede (South-West), Hadiza Ibrahim (North-Central), Joyce Osaro (South-South), Zainab Musa (North-West), Honor Onyebuchukwu (South-East) and Fatima Saleh (North-East).
Reacting, Okorocha said, “l don’t fear my political opponents, l fear women. Outside God, the next people l fear are women.”
“When a woman stands alone, she gives birth to a baby. When women gather, they give birth to a nation. What you are doing today is that you are giving birth to a nation.”
Meanwhile, Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, on Thursday alleged that military authorities are not interested in ending terrorism in the country because they making billions of naira from it.
Gumi who has been having meetings with bandits in an attempt to negotiate with them, stated this while speaking on Arise TV on Thursday.
According to Gumi, the bandits are ready to drop their arms and return to the fold if the Nigerian government will accede to their demands.
