Hon. Ziphion John Chrysanthus has expressed his intention to contest for a seat in Nigeria’s House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections, marking a significant development in the evolving political landscape of Plateau State.

In a statement issued on April 29, 2026, Chrysanthus confirmed that he has obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to represent the people of Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam Federal Constituency.

Describing the move as a continuation of his longstanding commitment to public service, the Plateau politician emphasized his readiness to provide what he termed “the leadership required to propel our dear constituency to its rightful place.”

Chrysanthus’ declaration signals a renewed ambition to play a more direct legislative role at the national level. Known for his involvement in governance and policy advocacy, he has previously served in public office, including as a liaison director for security agencies in Plateau State, where he contributed to discussions around national security reforms and governance structure.

His latest move places him among a growing list of political actors positioning themselves ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive 2027 election cycle.

The Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency has recently been at the center of political conversations around zoning and equitable representation. Stakeholders, particularly youth groups, have insisted on maintaining a rotational arrangement among the three local government areas to ensure fairness and balance.

This context adds strategic weight to Ziphions’ declaration, as aspirants are expected to align with local expectations on representation while presenting credible leadership alternatives.

While Chrysanthus’ statement did not outline a detailed policy agenda, his message underscored a focus on leadership, development, and service delivery. His emphasis on “propelling the constituency to its rightful place” suggests a campaign likely to center on socio-economic advancement, governance effectiveness, and community-focused representation.

Observers note that his prior advocacy on issues such as localized security solutions and institutional reforms may shape his political messaging as the election approaches.

With Nigeria’s next general elections still over a year away, early declarations like this highlight the intensifying political activity across constituencies nationwide. For the people of Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam, the coming months are expected to feature increased engagement, alignments, and debates over who is best positioned to represent their interests at the National Assembly.

Chrysanthus concluded his announcement on a note of faith and optimism, stating, “God is our help,” a phrase that reflects both personal conviction and a call for collective support as he begins his journey toward the 2027 polls.
