She also gets up while it is still night, and provides food for her household and a portion to her female servants.
She considers a field and buys it; from her own income she plants a vineyard.
She begins her work vigorously, and she strengthens her arms.
She knows that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out at night.
Her hands take hold of the distaff, and her hands grasp the spindle.
She extends her hand to the poor and reaches out her hand to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household, for all of her household is clothed with scarlet.
She makes for herself coverlets; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is well-known in the city gate when he sits with the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strength and honour, and she can laugh at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise and call her blessed, and her husband also praises her: “Many daughters have done valiantly, but you surpass them all!”
Charm is deceitful and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.
Give her credit for what she has accomplished, and let her works praise her in the city gates.
Over the years, I’ve heard so many Male and Female Pastors and Preachers telling women to be Virtuous Women. But none of them made mention of the exact thing the Virtuous Woman was doing that made her Virtuous.
The Virtuous Woman that was mentioned in Proverbs 31 never existed as of then. It was a made-up story, but throughout history, the story has motivated lots of Women and today, we have so many Virtuous Women in different cities and locations across the world.
Let me make this clear: if you are a Woman who is super talented and skilled, and shortly after marriage, you are restricted to the role of a full housewife, I’m sorry, you’re not a Virtuous Woman, you’re just a Maid.
If you are Wife a Wife and you are not industrious, making your own money, just sitting back at home and waiting for your husband to make things happen for you, I’m sorry, you’re not a Virtuous Woman; you’re just a dependent.
If you are a Wife, working and making money, and you are not supporting your husband financially and taking care of some things in the house, well, I’m sorry to say, you’re not a Virtuous Woman; you’re just a wicked soul.
If you are a Wife and you don’t care about the well-being of everyone around you, including strangers, and take good care of them, I swear to God, you’re not a Virtuous Woman, you’re just a devil.
If you are a Wife and your husband is not looking good, smelling nice and respected in your family, among your siblings, friends, within the neighbourhood/community but you are shining, you are not a Wife, you’re not a Virtuous Woman, you’re just a user.
Being a Virtuous Woman is not becoming a robot and a Bed warmer all in the name of marriage. Being a Virtuous Woman is being up and doing something reasonable and sensible with your life and time.
Yes, marriage is good and important but it’s not more important than your life. Your life is far more important than any other thing in life and if your life becomes wasted all in the name of marriage, you are not the only person who will suffer it, all the lives attached to your life directly or indirectly will suffer too simply because you failed to do something meaningful with your life.
If your husband is afraid of your success and achievements and his not comfortable that you are doing far more better than him, find the courage within yourself and put him in his place. Maybe you don’t know, your spouse, I mean, your Husband or Wife can become the enemy to your progress in life.
So many people are sleeping and waking up on the same bed, under the same roof with the worst enemy of their lives. Some of them are smiling and laughing together with no single trace that one of them is an enemy. My dear friend, watch your back.
