Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal has urged officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to have conscience and fear God.
Lawal made the appeal in an interview on Arise TV on Monday while giving his verdict on the Adamawa Governorship rerun election that was suspended at the weekend.
He said, “I am not surprised that this has happened in Adamawa. I am, however, still hopeful that probably, in INEC, there are still people who love this country, people who still fear God. After all, we are in the fasting season.
“I hope that those people will prevail eventually because they said that one with God is a majority. So we are appealing to those in INEC who still have a conscience, who still love Nigeria, to compel the others who chose to behave otherwise to do the needful thing for our country.
Look at this INEC, they are Nigerians, their children are Nigerians, their wives are Nigerians, their cousins are Nigerians and it is in their interest, if not for their parents, in the interest of their children, to leave a legacy of a peaceful country, a prosperous country, a country that you can still change a non-performing leader at will.”
