The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso, billionaire Sports Lotto King Sir, Chief Kessington Adebutu, and renowned banker and financial expert Abayomi Majekoduni, are among distinguished personalities that would grace the 45th anniversary of Lagos foremost club, Association of friends on November 26.
The anniversary would be preceded with a weeklong activities which begin on 21st to 26th November, 2023 at the club house, Maryland, Ikeja, Lagos.
Omotoso would be the guest lecturer, alongside renowned banker and financial expert, Abayomi Majekodunmi, Sir Kesington Adebutu, while sensational “bonsuwe music” star, Dr Adewale Ayuba, who will be entertaining guests and members of the club.
President of the association, Kole Olatunji, revealed that the highlight of the celebration would be its Presidential Gala Night and induction of new members, which will take place on Sunday, November 26, in Lagos.
The celebration would be declared open on Tuesday, November 21, with business networking session for members, while Thursday has been slated for sports at the club’s sports centre where members will engage in aerobic exercise to keep fit. On Friday members would have the opportunity to unwind and relieve the stress of the week with “suya” night.
Olatunji said the association was renowned for its tradition, honour, and community development, positively impacting the lives of its members and the host community through business networking, provision of social facilities and valuable partnerships. “I, therefore, appeal to our members at various levels of government to partner with us in the execution of projects aimed at touching the lives of the people around us,” he said.
“There will be health intervention programme which will provide free eye tests for residents at Maryland and Onigbongbo neighbourhoods on November 21. Other activities include launching of a N100 million special association development fund for the renovation of the club house. Olatunji said. The following day, the Business Summit entitled: “OMOLUABI Tenets, Concept, Ethos, Practices, and Culture,” will be on display. The founding fathers of the association include the late Suleiman Onabiyi, Festus Adeleke Adesina, Akinlawon Abiola, Fatai Irawo-Ogunsi, Ayinde Adesiyan, Kola Sanyaolu, Sunday Adigun, and Kunle Adesanya, their visionary and aspirations for a group of eight young men is the history of the Association of Friends, which came into being 45 years ago, some of whom have now passed on or are in their late 70s and early 80s.
