At a national election conducted at the weekend, the 79/84 set Coordinator of the St John’s Old Boys Association (SJOBA), Prince Adewuyi Adetogun has emerged the National President of the alumni association.
Adetogun emerged unopposed at the election, a testimony to his widespread acceptability across all class sets of old boys of the school, established by a Canadian Catholic Priest Fr. Fabian Cloutier in January 1962.
Elected along with Adetogun to lead the Association in the next two years are; Awoyemi Olatunde, who emerged the First National Vice President, Olaoluwa Omifare, the Second National Vice President. and Adebisi Obawole as Third Vice National President which covers United Kingdom and the entire Europe, while the Fourth Vice President, Sam Oludunfe’s tenure is still running. (the 4th Vice President’s territory covers America, North America, Canada and the Caribbeans)
Other elected officials of the Association and the National Secretary, is Oyesakin Babatunde, Assistant Secretary, Omidiora Gbolahan Emmanuel, National Treasurer, Adedire Joseph, Public Relations Officer, Awodirepo Samuel Akinlooye, Social Secretary, Shobowale Oluwasanjo Ayowumi and Financial Secretary, Akintilebo Olawale Festus.
Adetogun was until his election the Coordinator of the 79/84 set, and under his leadership, the set had refurbished the school library (furnished with furniture and text books), a 500KVA electricity transformer that serves the school and the entire Oke Atan Community and only recently, completed and handed over a multi-million Naira road project named after the School’s patron Saint and founder, Fr. Cloutier, among other landmark projects.
In his acceptance speech, Adetogun, who is also the Coordinator of the AJOBA, Abuja Chapter, expressed gratitude to every old boy across all the sets for the confidence reposed in him and pledged his total commitment to steering the affairs of the Association.
“I will be calling on you frequently for your support and cooperation knowing that we can only achieve more milestones together. We shall restore the dignity of our beloved Alma mater through our collective effort guided by God,” Adetogun said.
