Nigeria goalkeeper Christian Nwabili has said he is not happy with his performances for the Super Eagles so far at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Ivory Coast.
He spoke after Nigeria’s AFCON 1-0 win over Ivory Coast at the Stade Olympique Ouattara on Thursday.
Recall that Nwabali, who was in goal against Equatorial Guinea, kept a clean sheet against Ivory Coast.
William Troost-Ekong’s second half penalty gave Jose Peseiro’s side all three points against the host.
“No, I’m not happy. I feel I should be doing more for my country, so I don’t feel it was a great game for me, or how my game usually is,” he told Soccernet.
“I’m happy for the team’s win, but my performance is unlike me. I want to play the ball more, be more confident, and enjoy myself.”
Nwabali will now hope to lead Nigeria to victory in their final group game against Guinea-Bissau on Monday.
