Agege Day Celebration: Obasa reiterates why Lagosians need vote massively for Tinubu

The Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has urge Lagosians and especially Agege electorates to make good use of their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) at the coming general election by voting candidates of the All Progressives Congress in order to enjoy more dividend of democracy, describing their Presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the only one with competence and capacity for the task ahead amongst the rest contenders.

Obasa gave the charge at the grand finale Celebration of Agege  Day and launching of N500,000,000 Agege Education Endowment Fund on Tuesday 14th February, 2023.

Obasa counseled electorates ahead of the general election: “To ensure they have their PVC and if you have not done so, quickly go to the INEC office if not closed, to get your own PVC.

“Beyond that make sure you vote right, by voting for the person that is competent to serve you, to represent you and bring about the dividend of democracy and we without second thought strongly believe that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the most competent amongst those who are vying for presidency and that is why we are encouraging everybody that they should come out en masse.

“ Is not only about winning, we don’t just want to win but win with massive votes coming from Lagos to counter whatever will be coming from other places, so that we can win convincingly and at the end of the day Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu can have a say as opposed to what we witnessed in 1999, when the president that emerged did not gain the support of his people but this time around we want our President to have the support of all of us from Lagos, Southwest and other parts of Nigeria.

“We are not just canvassing for him, but we are canvassing for him based on his achievements, what we have witnessed and are still enjoying. You will agree with me that some of the roads constructed during Asiwaju’s era as Governor in Lagos are still in existence functioning properly.

“Most of the schools built during his administration known as Millennium Schools are still in good shape, talk about human development, those who have been empowered and established, I am one of them are testimonies that this man can do a lot, his achievement is not limited to infrastructure alone, human development is also key, that is why we are calling on everybody let us support this man he has the competence and capability to do the job. So we want others to join us in ensuring the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Speaking on the essence of the N500million education endowment fund, Obasa note that the government alone cannot do it all, he urged well meaning individuals across the state to help raise the bar by contributing to objectively helping to construct a society void of social vices through provision of qualitative education, which will critically stem the ugly trend of out of school students constituting nuisance in the state.

“Basically the essence of achievement is to continue to build on it, we have so many people who have passed through some of the schools in Agege and  achieve so much in their lives definitely we want the coming generation to also follow this path.

“By calling on these people who have passed through Agege and the schools there to further support the current students, we have in Agege right from Primary School to Secondary school. Government cannot do it alone so we have to bring people together to support the government in training our children, we have so many people out of school if they don’t want to go to school what else can they do?

“Through this endowment fund we can equip them, support and establish them, that is why we are calling on everybody not only people in Agege but those who have passed through Agege but everybody in Lagos State and beyond to support us in Agege to continue to support education in Agege.

“To support the infrastructure we have now so that we can meet international standard and to support the children in schools now, particularly the indigent ones, so that we can help them and those in higher institution who cannot afford to pay their tuition fee. It is also to further unite people in this community. To bring them together to understand and to develop cordial relationship. To encourage the youths to shun violence in our community.

“It is an opportunity for us to bring every member of Agege community together and every tribes in Agege, being a cosmopolitan town, we have Ibo, Hausa we have everybody in Agege. I want to bring them together so that we can sustain the relationship we have established between the Hausas, Yorubas and Ibos and also to create opportunity for them to relate business wise, friendship wise, networking and every other thing so this is the essence to ensure unity among the people of Agege.

“It is also to encourage us to establish cordial relationship where none exist before. That informs our tag ‘Agege Day’ it targeted at bringing all from all walks of life together for the good of Agege.

“We are determined to entrench enduring crime-free and educational legacies that would bring uncommon progress to us in all areas of our socio- economic development.

“The funds that accrue from the endowment scheme will be used to mitigate shortfalls in educational infrastructure and much more. Students gaining admissions overseas but whose parents could not afford to cater for their tuition can approach the endowment when they graduate in future they will be thankful and appreciative of those who came to their aid back then.

“That is why we are launching the fund to mitigate the social menace which is what Agege is known for that will be obliterated and we can have a sane society. Sometimes when people hear Agege they are afraid to come because of the activities of this school drop outs and their nefarious conduct.

Ayantayo however, lauded the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Ajayi Obasa for all the dividend of democracy attracted to Agege owing to the fact that he is a sound voice for the people which has attracted the reckoning of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who has been able to impact positively on the peoples lives through infrastructure, education and healthcare.
