A prominent figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has demonstrated persistent confidence in Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s continued leadership in Kano State, adding that the tribunal’s ruling would no stop the governor’s ‘Four Plus Four’ Term.
While addressing the journalists today, Friday, 22 September 2023, at his office in Ibafo, Ajadi expressed his belief that Abba Yusuf will serve two terms, securing ‘four plus four’ years as Governor.
He had made those comments of assurance as the Kano State Governorship Election Tribunal invalidated Governor Yusuf’s election.
He moved further to say that Governor Yusuf’s popularity among Kano residents had shown in the reactions of the people of Kano to the Tribunal’s judgment.
He added that the responses of the people have illustrated their continued support for Governor Yusuf and their appreciation of the positive initiatives he had initiated.
Regarding the Tribunal’s ruling, Ajadi characterized it as a temporary setback that he fully expected to be overturned by the Court of Appeal.
He cited the unusual manner in which the judgment was delivered via Zoom from an undisclosed location as an indication that the judges themselves recognized the enduring support for Abba Yusuf within Kano State.
Ambassador Ajadi, who was the NNPP Governorship Candidate in Ogun State during the 2023 general elections, stood firm in his conviction that the Tribunal’s decision would not withstand scrutiny in the Court of Appeal.
He assured Nigerians that Abba Yusuf would continue to serve the people of Kano State for two constitutional terms, signifying ‘four plus four’ years, by the grace of God.
In a plea for peace, Ambassador Ajadi called upon the residents of Kano State to maintain calm and patience, reaffirming that NNPP is a law-abiding party.
He also highlighted the peaceful nature of their presidential candidate, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, and Governor Abba Yusuf.
Ambassador Ajadi expressed trust in the judiciary’s fairness and stated that they believed NNPP had genuinely won all elections in Kano State. He reassured that the Tribunal’s judgment was a temporary setback and urged Kano residents to await victory at the Court of Appeal through peaceful means.
“NNPP is a party known for its basket of fruits and fruits are medically known to rejuvenate souls. I believe NNPP has come to stay in Kano for the prosperity of the citizens,” he said.
