The late Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III will be buried today according to Muslim rites, Sunrise News has gathered.
Already his final resting place at Baara, where the remains of all former Alaafin were interred is being prepared for the final rites of the foremost Yoruba paramount ruler.
Baara is the ancient groove where all former Alaafin a who where his predecessors are buried.
A palace source who confided in Sunrise News said the remains would be laid to rest in line with the Islamic tradition, while all other traditional rites associated with the departure of the monarch will continue.
According to the palace source, who did not want his name in print: “It is true Baara is being prepared for the final burial of the late Iku Baba Yeye because that’s the final resting place of all his predecessors.
Baara is not just the final testing place of all former Alaafin, it is also a place where the Alaafin often visits whenever there is need for him to commune with his ancestors either to seek guidance or for direction,” the palace source added.
The late Alaafin is a man of letters who is seasoned in the history of the Yoruba race. He is believed to be an institution, and a man who brought colour, panache and finesse to royalty.
