The Presidential taskforce on the clearing of Apapa port and access roads have said it would deliver a cleared road and port to the people of Lagos in line with the mandate of Mr President by Friday.
Leader of the team Comrade Kayode Opeifa who made this known in an interview with The Nation on Monday said the taskforce is working round the clock to ensure that the presidential order is complied with.
He said with appreciable success recorded at the Western Avenue, Iponri, Ijora, and Ajegunle axis, attention is fully shifted to the Apapa-Oshodi to enforce sanity on the road.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari two weeks ago had ordered all trucks and trailers off Apapa port and all access roads within 72 hours. The order also established a Presidential Taskforce to ensure full compliance with the order. The taskforce has two weeks to achieve its task.
The Presidential Task force had moved to Apapa on Thursday May 23, and after series of meeting with all stakeholders and leadership of all road transport unions which lasted until Friday, May 24, began the enforcement of the presidential order on Saturday, May 25.
Opeifa had told reporters on Sunday, that attention will be fully on Coconut to Tin Can, which has been a thorny spot as a result of the collapsed road network between Mile 2 and Tin Can.
Opeifa told our correspondent that he is heading to Coconut with a detachment of Policemen to clear the area.
He assures that the team will work all through the Eid-elFitri holidays to sanitize the area. More details coming
