Youths in Yobe State have
drummed support for the Director-General of National Orientation Agency (NOA),
Dr. Garba Abari to assume the vacant position of National Secretary of the All
Progressives Congress (APC)
The last occupier of the office, Alhaji Mai-Mala Buni, resigned after he was
elected the APC gubernatorial candidate for Yobe, a position which he later won
and had been sworn into office.
Speaking to journalists in Damaturu on
Monday, the youths under the Coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC)
Support Youths Group in Yobe State, urged the party national body of the party
to fill the vacant position with the Director-General National Orientation
Agency (NOA) Dr. Garba Abari, who is an indigene of Yobe State.
The leader of the coalition, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed, said that, since the
Zone A” produce a governor, Hon Mai Mala, while Zone C” senatorial
district have the Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, it would be fair to allow
Yobe South (Zone B) to produce the national secretary of the party, a position
which seems to have been zoned to Yobe state.
He said it would be unfair to Yobe South for the position of the national
secretary to go to one of the other two zones.
He described Dr. Garba Abari as the
right choice to be the APC National Secretary “since the slot has been
allocated to Yobe State to produce.”
He claimed that Dr. Garba has all the qualifications and experience to become
the National Secretary of the APC, his contributions to the party are
immeasurable, he is trust worthy and can never compromise the integrity of the
APC, he has capacity to keep the party intact.
He expressed worry over the non-inclusion of Yobe South in APC political
arrangement, stressing that the. party’s National Secretary should be a man of
principle in order to sustain the weight of the party ahead of 2023 General
Elections.
He said: “Let me tell you the truth, Dr. Garba is ahead of his contemporaries
in all ramifications, he’s a man of honour and integrity, hardworking and
peacefully disposition.
” We need him because of his concern, commitment, dedication to the
success of the party, we feel that he can continue from where Governor Maimala
Buni ended, we have began consultations with critical stakeholders across all
spectrum, seeking advises and blessings on our mission.”
He also urged Yobe state governor, Hon. Mai-Mala Buni to support their
endorsement for Dr. Garba Abari to fill the vacant position of the national
secretary of APC.
