The All Progressives Congress (APC) NewsOnline, says it plans to establish full-fledged Radio and Television Stations to project the party’s policies and programmes.

Dr Tom Ohikere, Editor-In-Chief, APC NewsOnline, stated this at the inaugural meeting of the outfit in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said establishing the stations had become necessary to effectively project the party’s activities, which were currently under reported by the media.

“It is pertinent to note that we have reached an advanced stage in our plan to establish a full-fledged Radio and Television stations in Abuja.

“The station will house all the existing APC news online structures, for the purpose of promoting and protecting the political integrity of the progressives.

“The media will be unbundled and unveiled immediately after the party’s forthcoming National Convention of our great party, slated for March 26.

“We have an online newspaper, www.a>»cnewsonline.n: which we are still test running since the last 18 months,” he said, adding that consultants had made tremendous progress on the radio and television project,” he said.

According to Ohikere, the APCOnline already had a news studio, temporarily located at Suite 6, Barcelona Hotel, by the party’s national headquarters on Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja.

He said the platform had been charged with the role of disseminating public information effectively and efficiently, for the overall benefits of the APC.

Ohikere assured that the platform would strive to improve the public perception and image of the party.

This, he added, would entail rebranding of the party and e-engineering of its overall information architecture, via re-evaluating and re-establishing.

“We are going to support the APC-led government in generating feedback from Nigerians, on measures taken by the government in meeting their needs and aspirations, as enshrined in its manifesto.

“We will also help to evaluate the policy trust of government at all level,” he said.

Ohikere said that the APC-led administration had made tremendous progress in all spheres of national life and would continue to make giant strides.

He said however, that the party was not communicating its vision and achievements effectively to make its followers and electorate buy into them.

According to him, adequate engagement with the APCOnline would change the narrative, as well as sway the electorate and undecided voters to take closer look at the party’s records.

“The goal is that we must communicate clearly, positively, and passionately in order to be able to win future elections, particularly as we approach 2023 general elections.

“We must be assertive to get desired results in the forthcoming elections,” he said.

Present at the inauguration were Alhajl Lawal Ado, a former Editor-in-Chief of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and Malam Sani Suleiman,a former Director of news, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
