The Senate Leader, Dr Yahyah Abdullahi, has urged chieftains and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be faithful and work for unity of the party and country.
Abdullahi, representing Kebbi North Senatorial District, gave the advice while speaking with newsmen shortly after he revalidated his membership of the APC at the Sama secondary school polling unit, in Argungun on Thursday.
He said that there would be no meaningful progress in state and country in the absence of faithfulness and unity.
“I want to appeal to APC members, to first of all be faithful to the party.
“When we started this party in 2014, a lot of people were calling us all sort of names and wondering how we were going to win an election at the state and national levels when we didn’t have anything to go by.
“But our God made sure it happened and we won the elections at the state and at the national levels.
“Now it is time to re-engineer our party for more successes, and the most important thing in any successful endeavour is to bring people together.
“Once you don’t bring people together, you will be lost and lose elections. That is what no politician will not like to experience,” he said.
Abdullahi also enjoined the members to be disciplined and unite in order to provide exemplary leadership that would be acceptable by all.
“Without unity of purpose and discipline within the party, there is no way Nigerians can trust us with their future.
“Therefore, I admonish all members of our great party to eschew bitterness, come together to build a nation; better future for the prosperity and development of our people,” he said.
The senator commended the supervising team from National headquarters of the party led by Prof. Sani Yahaya, on their efforts and sacrifices towards the success of the exercise.
“This is exercise mandated by the leadership of APC to organise the party from the grassroots up to the national convention.
“We are reviewing the party so that we can remain competitive against other parties in the forthcoming 2023 general elections,” the senate leader said.
