Arsenal have officially announced the transfer of Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa.
The Gunners confirmed the transfer on their official website on Wednesday.
“Emi Martinez has joined Aston Villa in permanent transfer.
“The Argentinean international goalkeeper, a hugely popular figure around the club, signed for us 10 years ago in August 2010 from home city side Independiente.
“Emi, 28, started the last 11 matches of the 2019/20 season, performing superbly and continuing this form into this season for our Community Shield penalty shoot-out victory over Liverpool.
“He was an ever-present on our road to winning the Emirates FA Cup, conceding just three goals in the six matches along the way to lifting the trophy.
“In total Emi made 39 first-team appearances, spending loan spells with six clubs – Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, Wolves, Getafe and Reading – in order to develop his experience.”
