The President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, has said the ruling from the National Industrial Court of Arbitration (NICA) is not final. He said the union will consult with its legal team and take the appropriate action.
Speaking on a national television Osodeke described the ruling as a tragedy and wondered why the Minister of Education would head to the court to force the teachers back to classrooms when negotiations had not broken down between the two parties.
Osodeke who claimed that the students are with the teachers in their agitation said the union have the right to appeal the ruling adding that there are usually three layers in the judicial system, adding that the union will exploit all available to upturn the judgment.
He described the conditions in most of the universities as shambolic, adding that the union would not be going back to classroom until all the issues are resolved.
