Foremost traditional ruler and the Awujale of Ijebuland Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has announced the appointment of a prominent Fuji maestro King Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, Marshal I popularly known as KWAM I or Wasiu Ayinde, as the new Olori Omo Oba of Akile Ijebu.
In the letter, a copy of which was obtained by Sunrise News, KWAM I replace the late Otunba Subomi Balogun, whose remains was interred at his Ijebu-Ode country home at the weekend.
Awujale said the appointment followed KWAM I’s declared interest in the vacant office, which the King said, he eminently qualified for, as one of the princes from the Fidipote Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode from where the new occupant of the office is expected to emerge.
The King applauded Wasiu Ayinde’s industry in his chosen field, adding that this and his devotion to duty, honesty, loyalty, high principle and probity and especially his dedication to the development to the Ijebu community and are some of the hallmarks that stood him in good stead and qualified him for the new status.
The Awujale therefore asked KWAM I to see his new office as a challenge for greater service to the development of Ijebuland and the nation.
Sunrise News recalls that the Olori-Omo Oba of Ijebuland is acknowledged as the head of the crown princes of Ijebuland and the title can be conferred on any prominent member of the ruling houses in Ijebuland.
The Olori Omo Oba is often given to prominent Ijebu man noted as a man of means or any one who wields incredible influence and can attract huge goodwill that could be leveraged upon in the development of Ijebu-Ode and the entire Ijebuland.
