The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made a very powerful political statement in Lagos on Friday, when two Senate Presidents, six PDP governors from the South, a former Vice Presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi, and other party chieftains received members of the Lagos for Lagos political movement, a splinter All Progressives Congress (APC) group into the party.
Among the galaxy of PDP big wigs who stormed the Tafawa Balwa Square venue of the reception are the PDP National Chairman Senator Iyorchia Ayu, who was accompanied by the National Vice Chairman South, Ambassador Abdultaofeek Arapaja, and other party’s national executive council members, they were joined by the former national Vice Chairman Chief Olabode George, and former Governors of Ondo State Dr Olusegun Mimiko, and former Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, among others.
Among the governors that came to welcome Jendor and his Lagos 4Lagos into the PDP are the Governor Nyesom Wike, of Rivers State, the Oyo State Governor Mr Seyi Makinde, who is the SouthWest political leader.
In handing over Jendor to the National Leaders who in turn handed him over to the state chapter of the party, the governors lauded the strategic admission of the Dr Olajide Adediran (popularly called Jendor)led Lagos4Lagos into PDP, adding that with the admission, getting back Lagos seem more realizable.
They all urged the PDP house in Lagos to join hands, bury the hatchets and support the new members to contribute their value to the party.
In his speech, Dr Adediran (Jendor) said he left the APC because of its hostility to competition. He said he is happy to be joining forces with the PDP.
He said he would be happy to join forces with members of the PDP to dislodge the APC from the seat of power which they have cornered for themselves since 1999.
Jendor said time has come for the APC to pack their loads and leave the scene as he and his team, with the new vigour and backing of their new party would give the ruling party a run for its money.
