Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed sadness over the demise of Baba Suwe, whom he said, “lived a fulfilled life”.

Real name, Babatunde Omidina, the comedy legend, born on August 22, 1958, died on Monday after a long battle with an illness.

The son made a video showing his body, accusing family, friends and colleagues of abandoning the deceased.

Baba Suwe was married to comedienne Omoladun Omidina, who died in September 2009.

In a statement Tuesday night, Sanwo-Olu consoled Nollywood for losing “one of the outstanding practitioners in the industry”.

The governor said Baba Suwe was a bundle of talents, who used his God-given gift to advance the course of mankind.

He noted that the late actor put smiles on the faces of many people through his comic roles in different movies and television drama series.

“No doubt the death of a loved one is usually painful because it is irreparable but we must always take solace in God, especially if the deceased had lived a fulfilled life, just like the late Babatunde Omidina, who was a celebrated actor during his lifetime.

‘Baba Suwe’s death has left a vacuum that would take some time to be filled in the entertainment industry.”

Sanwo-Olu prayed that God grants departed Babatunde Omidina eternal rest and give his relatives, associates and fans the fortitude to bear the loss.
