The Capital City of Edo, Benin, on Tuesday evening, experienced its first rainfall for the year 2020, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports.
NAN reports that the rains which lasted for over one hour in some parts of the city started at about 5:30 pm.
The sign of rainfall became visible at about 5 pm when the weather that had appeared not too hot from the dawn of the day started gathering storm.
Although the rain appeared not too serious in some parts of the city such as Government Reserved Area (GRA) it was heavier in other parts like the Murtala Mohammed (MM) Way, Upper Sakponba, and Sapele road axis of the city.
A banker, Mr Nath Egwaoje, who spoke with NAN, said he never expected such rain in the early part of the year.
“It was so serious to the extent of causing serious flood around MM way and environs. I had to take another route to my destination because of the flood,” he said.
NAN reports that many residents who were expectant of the rain rushed to take cover when it started.
