Reprieve has come to people of three Borno communities attacked by Boko Haram from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The three communities, Debiro, Tarfa and Dakwaima in Biu local government were attacked by Boko Haram early this month.
Some of the houses in the communities were torched and many people injured.
NEMA, the federal government’s agency on emergency, at the weekend distributed relief items to the persons affected by insurgents attacks in the three communities.
The agency gave the relief materials to the Borno Deputy Governor, Alhaji Usman Kadafur for onward distribution to the victims of the attack.
The Deputy Governor was represented by Prof. Martha Tarfa of the University of Maiduguri who received the relief items approved by the Director General of NEMA AVM Muhammadu Muhammad (rtd), represented by Mr Lawana Kaltungo, who led a team from NEMA North East Zonal Office
Also at the occasion was a representative of Borno State Emergency Management Agency (BOSEMA), Malam Adamu Maina who supervised the distribution.
The relief materials distributed are food and non-food items such as rice, maize, mattresses, zinc, cement, among others.
The Secretary of Biu local government Hajiya Larai Mai-Umar commended the efforts of Borno State government and NEMA for swift response and assisting the affected communities.
The district head of Mandaragirau Alhaji Muhammad Maina Bukar, who spoke on behalf of the affected communities, said the affected communities will utilize the relief items and ensure it gets to the affected victims.
