Borno declares Thursday work free for Buhari’s visit

Borno State Government has declared Thursday (today) as public holiday to enable every residents of the state capital, Maiduguri troop out to give visiting President Muhammadu Buhari a rousing welcome.
An announcement by the state commissioner for information, Dr. Mohammed Bulama on Wednesday read: “Sequel to the impending official visit of His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Borno State, the Borno State Government has declared tomorrow, Thursday, 25th April, 2019 as public holiday.
“In view of this, members of the general public are hereby urged to troop out en masse to receive Mr. President and his entourage.
“Government regrets any inconvenience that may be caused to the general public and appeals for their support, understanding and cooperation during the visit.
Meanwhile, Borno State capital, Maiduguri has been given a facelift as President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to commission some projects built by Governor Kashim Shettima.
During the president’s visit, he is expected to commission projects in health, education and housing sectors.
Eleven projects have been slated for the president’s commissioning within Maiduguri metropolis.
As at Wednesday when our correspondent went round the town, many things have been put in perfect condition.
The roads were been touched and many edifice repainted, which made the town wear a beautiful look.
A security source, who spoke to our correspondent, said the people of the town should brace up to little inconvenience as many of the roads may be closed during the visit.
Among the projects to be commission, include Njimtilo industrial layout and State University, two mega schools, Aliko Dangote school, Legacy Garden, General Hospital project and Chest Clinic, Osibanjo Rural Electrification Board and 10-kilometre Pompomari bypass.
