Borno State Government has lamented that the state never enjoyed the right image for decades.
Addressing the news conference on Monday in Maiduguri, the state’s Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Hon. Babakura Abba- Jato , said the public enlightenment unit of the ministry of information was left unattended to and dormant in the past 32 years.
He however said the coming on board of the present administration has led to reviving of most of the moribund facilities in the ministry.
Abba-Jato said that at the information unit of the ministry, there is now robust internet facilities put in place to enhance information dissemination of the ministry.
He said other facilities required to run the ministry have been put in place, in addition to manpower development.
He said facilities such as is in Borno Radio Television ( BRTV ) were revived and the obsolete ones among them replaced.
He added that the state broadcasting outfit now transmit beyond Borno to neighbouring states, noting that the state is now on the satellite and beamed across the globe.
Abba-Jato said: “Through Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s intervention, we have been able to bring the ministry back to life. The Borno State government printing press which has been dormant for years has been brought to life.
“At the fire service section of the ministry, over 62 fire engines have been revived with more fire fighting equipment acquired.”
He said when all the equipment are working, the state would rank as the state best with the best Fire Service.
