Former Vice President and the Waziri Adamawa, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, has emerged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer in the 2023 presidential election coming up on February 25, 2023.
He defeated Governor Nyesom Wike, his strongest contender, who polled 237 votes, to emerge winner.
Atiku who polled 371 votes defeated among others former Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, who scored 70 votes, former Secretary to the Government of Federation Anyim Pius Anyim 14, the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who scored 20, and the Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel who scored 38 votes.
The election is said to be free, fair, transparent and credible election, which showed that they are capable of chasing the ruling party out of office.
In his acceptance speech, Atiku Abubakar urged all co-contestants to join hands with him to build a virile political party that is ready to win back power in the coming election.
He said he is determined to build a formidable party which would bring together all disgruntled elements in the party in the overall I terest of the founding fathers of the party and in the interest of Nigerians who are eager to embrace change from the economic doldrums in the country.
