Manchester United has officially named Ruben Amorim as their next manager.
The Red Devils announced in a club statement on Friday that Amorim will stay at Sporting Lisbon until November 11.
This means the 39-year-old’s debut game in command will be a Premier League match against Ipswich Town.
Amorim has agreed to a deal that will last until June 2027, with an option to extend for another year.
United have given Sporting an additional €1 million (£840,000) in addition to his €10 million (£8.4 million) departure clause in exchange for an early termination of his 30-day notice period.
He will succeed Erik ten Hag, who was fired on Monday, while Ruud van Nistelrooy will serve as temporary manager until Amorim takes over.
United’s next league match comes at home against Chelsea on Sunday.
