The Nigerian Senate has removed Senator Mohamed Ali Ndume (Borno South) as the Chief Whip and replaced him with Senator Tahir Monguno.
Ndume’s replacement by the Senate followed a directive issued to that effect in a letter written and jointly signed by the National Chairman of the party, Umar Ganduje and National Secretary, Senator Bashir Ajibola.
This decision allegedly follows Ndume’s recent criticisms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, APC, asked Ndume to resign from the party and join any opposition party of his choice.
The request was put to voice votes by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and loudly affirmed by all the APC senators
