Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday cancelled the 13th yearly colloquium as a mark of respect in honour of victims of the attack on Kaduna bound train by terrorists on Monday evening.

Tinubu had taken to the podium minutes after the event went into full session to apologise to all the eminent personalities that graced the event that the mood of the nation does not support any celebration.

He said as a result of the very sad incident in our country which happened on Monday evening, we cannot be here celebrating, dancing and enjoying when some section of the country are in pain. I will urge the clergies who are here present and every one of you to go back home and pray for this country.

“God will help us to win the war against evil and set this country on the right path.”

Tinubu was accompanied at the podium by the Kano State Governor Alhaji Ganduje, his Lagos State counterpart Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and former Ogun State Governor and a long time associate of Tinubu, Aremo Olusegun Osoba.

It is the first time that the Bola Tinubu Colloquium would be cancelled, but Tinubu insisted it has to be cancelled as a result of the national tragedy.

He prayed for all those who sustained injuries that God would hasten their healing.

SunriseNG recall that terrorists had bombed the Kaduna bound train few kilometres to Kaduna, with eight already confirmed dead, while many are injured. The train is said to be carrying close to a thousand passengers as at the time of the attack.
