President Muhammadu Buhari finally settled the rumblings in the ruling All Progressives Congress on Wednesday.
Buhari, who was the APC National Leader said he is persuaded by the party’s constitution, which is the groundnorm of the party to side with Chief Victor Giadom, who until Monday, was the National Deputy Secretary General of the party. Giadom, was replaced two days ago by Worgu Boms, who was sworn in almost immediately.
President Buhari’s position was contained in a press statement signed by Malam Garba Shehu. He said the President’s position was guided by sound legal advise on the way forward to resolve the rumblings in the party, which has consumed the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who was sent packing by the Appeal Court last week. Oshiomhole has been in the eye of the storm in recent times due to his sack by the executive of the party at his ward.
In a tweet on his official Twitter Handle @GarShehu, the presidential spokesman said the president has received very convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the situation in the party is concerned and had determined that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as the Acting National Chairman.
Shehu went further to add that because Mr President will always act in accordance with the law, the President will be attending the virtual meeting Giadom called for tomorrow afternoon.
Giadom in a well publicised advertisement had called for the convening of the NEC of the party for Thursday, June 25 at 12 noon. He said the meeting would hold virtually in consonance with the COVID-19 preventive protocols. Buhari’s decision to not only to recognise the Giadom leadership but to attend the NEC meeting called by the top politician is the most powerful message meant to give direction to the party which has been floundering in recent time.
