- Prays to leave a lasting legacy for successor
President Muhammadu Buhari today presented the eighth and last appropriation bill, which he described as historic.
It is also the last that the ninth National Assembly which the federal lawmakers hoped to pass before the end of year.
President Buhari who declared he intends to leave a lasting legacy that is better than what he met in 2015 remained his driving force as his administration winds down.
He described the budget as a budget of consolidation, even as he said he would endeavour to see that he bequeath a strong economy to the coming administration.
Part of efforts to achieve this, he said is the signing into law of several bills passed by the National Assembly which has led to massive successes recorded by his administration in the area of critical infrastructure development and good governance.
Addressing infrastructure development, Buhari said his administration has established the Infrastructure Company of Nigeria, with a N1 trillion equity, as well as the Africa Finance Company and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, all of which have assisted in the sustenance and completion of major road projects such as the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and several others across the country.
The government, he further added started a tax credit scheme for credible organisations which incentivises the construction of over 10,250 kilometres across the country.
On good governance, Buhari said his administration has implemented a number of reforms which has assisted in repositioning the country and strengthen the democratic journey, culminating in the reforms being witnessed in the nation’s economy.
He urged greater partnership between the Federal Government and the National Assembly.
