Today is a special day – not just because it’s the birthday of Olutokunbo Olusegun Ojekunle (aka Toks orMr. T), but because it’s a chance to celebrate a man so humble, so profoundly kind, that it’s honestly a mild insult to call him “just” a friend. But knowing him, he’d be miffed if we called him anything else. That’s Toks for you – a man whose calm grace, selfless loyalty, and relentless goodness have touched countless lives.
If you’re lucky enough to know Toks, you’ll understand what I mean when I say that he inspires an almost irrational desire to be better. Here’s a man whose professionalism is as effortless as it is profound, and whose kindness feels like a gift you don’t deserve but dare not question – because who questions a “gift horse” like that? When you’re around Toks, you realize that loyalty isn’t just a word, and friendship is a duty you gladly work hard to uphold.
And here’s a fun riddle: how old is he, really? Some of us who’ve known him for over 30 years still don’t know – and yes, there’s an ongoing game of “Guess Toks’ Age” (though with his charm and class, I’m convinced he’s ageless). In all seriousness, it’s not about the number of years; it’s about the impact he’s made over those years. From inspiring minds in mass communication to lifting up friends and colleagues, he’s been a force of positivity and forward-thinking humility. Some nations would truly “die” to have a spirit like his in their corner.
So today, Mr. T, stand tall and take in the well-deserved acclaim from all of us – your colleagues, your friends, your innumerable mentees, and of course, the lucky souls you call family. We’re raising our glasses to the grace that surrounds you and the legacy you’re still building.
Happy Birthday, Mr. T, ọkọ Yẹmi (Ìyá Àdúà)! May this new chapter bring you blessings as profound as the kindness you share.
