Centre for 21st Century issues tasks Tinubu, new governors on service delivery, good governance

Human and Environmental Activist, Ms. Titilope Gbemisola Akosa who is the Executive Director of the Centre for 21st Century Issues has admonished President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all newly elected state governors to prioritise the well being of Nigerians.

Akosa in a statement she issued on Tuesday urged the newly elected leaders of the country to remember all the promises to the electorate in their day-to-day activities in government.

This is coming just as she expressed her felicitation to Nigerians for witnessing a smooth transfer of power from one elected regime to the other, saying the development is reflective of the success that has been recorded in the nation’s democratic journey.

“I wish to salute the resilient endurance of Nigerians who have stayed resolute in the defence of the current democratic order since it commenced in May 29, 1999. Our nation’s march to democratic stability is becoming more and more consolidated by the day,” she said.

She stated that they (the elected officials) should always remember that providence and fate have conspired together to elevate them to high pedestal to serve Nigerians.

“I am also using the opportunity to urge elected officials of state to always remember their social contract with the people during the electioneering period by rendering quality leadership.

“The call is even more pertinent to serve as a reminder to them that whatever they do in office either positively or negatively will always be recorded for them for posterity to judge them.” Akosa said.

She stated that they should strive very hard to address the numerous problems plaguing the country with a view to designing the right strategies for solving the problems.
