…Scores APC led government low on child right protection
The Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scored the All Progressive Congress (APC) led government, low on child right protection as the world marks the annual Children’s Day celebration.
In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary Hon. Hakeem Amode, the sorry state of child right protection in the state and particularly Nigeria was mirrored, citing little or nothing done to address the situation by the powers that be.
Amode note that: ‘For us in the PDP, we know that these are not the best of times for Nigerians and whatever affects the parents will also affect the children.
“We wish to also salute the children for enduring the current harsh economic crisis in the country.
‘Our children are the future of our society and nothing is too much to invest on them, so it is not an overstatement to say that the Nigerian children should be commended for their resilience and for bearing the brunt of the issues confronting us as a nation.’
Amode however, celebrated the Nigerian child with a message of hope for a better future ahead.
“We in the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wish to greet and felicitate with all the Nigerian children.
“But, there is hope for the future and that is what the Lagos State chapter of the PDP stands for.
“Our party, both at the state and national levels, believes in the welfare of the children. We will continue to fight their cause and that is why we want to go into government to make things better, especially for the children.
“The Nigerian children are not asking for too much; they need education, feeding, clothing, accommodation and welfare.
“Our government will place priority on these and we will never let our children down because we know that the future belongs to them.
“A PDP-led government in Lagos State, and even at the federal level, will protect the Children’s rights as enshrined in our constitution, which include the right to health, education, family life, play and recreation, an adequate standard of living and to be protected from abuse and harm.
“Leading countries of the world emphasise the welfare of the children as they know that whatever they do for them would be waiting for their countries in the future.
“We wish our children happy celebration, while promising them that a PDP-led government would be there for them once we have opportunity to serve.”
