A candidate for the position of the National Publicity Secretary, the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration (CIOTA), Mrs. Chinwe Uwaegbute, has promised to prioritise the promotion of members’ initiatives and programmes on all CIOTA’s platforms in accordance with the institute’s guidelines.
Not only that, she promised to prioritise the welfare of members of the institute.
She spoke at the first ever virtual campaign forum on Friday September 5, 2020.
While relying on Article 23, Section 4: Clause 5, of the institute’s constitution which provides for the creation of a Welfare Committee, which would be chaired by the Publicity Officer, Mrs. Uwaegbute promised to put issues of welfare of members of the institute on the front burner if elected as the publicity secretary.
She promised to work with the president of the institute and other elected officials to ensure inclusiveness and professionalism which would propel the forward movement of the great institute.
According to her, “in advancing the course of CIOTA, I shall ensure that all CIOTA activities are adequately publicised by the leading media in Nigeria. I will also intensify action on advocacy and public enlightenment by creating interactive online groups, forums, communities and blog on CIOTA website.”
She continues: “I will introduce transport education to further create interest and passion for safety and the growth in the sector. I will also work with the secretariat to establish a sustainable system for the publication of journals and magazines for the institute.”
In addition, she rolled out the goodies she has in stock for members of the institute if elected: “For distinguished members of the institute, if given the opportunity to serve, I will prioritize the promotion of members’ initiatives and programs on all CIOTA’s media platforms in accordance with CIOTA guidelines. I will provide veritable networks and channels for professionals to interact and exchange views as it relates to their field of expertise and knowledge.”
She concluded by stating that she would transform CIOTA’s website into a learning hub which can only be accessed by members.
Mrs. Chinwe Uwaegbute is currently the Strategy and Business Development Manager of Temple SYC Inspection Limited, the first and only indigenous Vehicle Inspection Company in Nigeria with operations in more than 20 states of Nigeria.
She is also the current Administrative Secretary of the Nigerian Transportation Commissioners Forum, and the Project Coordinator of the Transport and Logistics Award.
In addition, she coordinated the Driver Theory Test in collaboration with the FRSC.
Since her entry into the race for the National Publicity Secretary of CIOTA, she has brought excitement and creativity into the race.
The election will be held virtually on September 12, 2020.
The Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA) Establishment Bill 2016 was enacted as an Act of National Assembly on the 22nd May, 2019 with Federal Government Act No. 27 of 2019;- establishing the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria as a corporate body with perpetual secession, charged with the responsibility of advancing the study, training and practice of transport management and administration in Nigeria; and for other related matters.
