Council Chair laments deplorable condition of public schools

The Executive Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Hon. Princess Ramatrachel Oseni, has lamented the deplorable condition of public schools in the council area, which she described as the bane of educational growth.

Oseni stated this in her office at the presentation of newly constructed school furniture to 14 public primary schools in the council area. She laments the dearth of teaching and learning facilities, noting that it has contributed negatively to education sector generally. She said unless a concerted effort is made to arrest the situation, it will only worsen.

The Council Chair said the construction and distribution of desk and benches to school was borne out of her administration’s resolve to lift education sector through interventions in critical areas.

She reeled out other efforts of the local council at turning around the conditions of the schools to include; distribution of free exercise books to pupils in all public primary schools, construction and provision of computer tables and chairs, as well as provision of tables and chairs for teachers in all the schools.

Others are construction of one block of six classrooms at Iba Housing Estate Primary School II, renovation of one block of three classroom, construction of toilet facility and construction of perimeter fencing at Aganju – Aka Primary school, Kemberi, Okokomaiko, construction of one block of six classroom and perimeter fencing at L A Primary School, Ijeododo.
