Council empowers 50, distributes education materials to public schools

As part of concerted effort to reduce the high level of poverty among the people and improve the standard of Primary Education, the Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Engr Abdul Fatai Oyesanya, on Tuesday distributed grinding machines, Pop-Corn machines, hair dryers and cash gifts to 50 residents of the council.

It also distributed free exercise books, white marker boards, marker pens and magnetic dusters to all the 12 public primary schools in the council area.

Oyesanya said the empowerment tools and educational materials are in fulfillment of his administration’s desire to make positive impact in the life of the council residents.

According to him, since assumption of office, his administration has remained committed to making life meaningful for the people, as this is evident in all programmes and projects carried out by his administration.

The council chairman, while reiterating the commitment of his administration towards provision of an enabling environment for the growth of small scale business and improved standard of primary education, urged public spirited individuals and private organizations to support government in the quest to improve the standard of education in Nigeria and eradicate poverty among the people.

He appealed to beneficiaries of the empowerment tools who are mostly women and youths to use them judiciously to make a living for themselves. Engr Oyesanya equally charged  teachers and pupils in the council area to make judicious use of the various educational materials.

He concluded his address by appealing to residents of the council to ensure they pay promptly their various levies to the council’s purse as this will enable his administration to continue to give the people the much needed dividend of democracy.

The ceremony which was attended by the council’s Vice Chairman, Princess Bolanle Samiat Bada, the council’s Legislative Leader, Hon Akanni Ajibola Usman, wife of the Chairman, Alhaja Kudirat Oyesanya, members of the Executive Committee of the council, other councilors, chieftains and members of All Progressives Congress(APC) in the council and the management staff, led by the Council Manager, Mrs Omoloju Comfort, also witnessed the presentation of cash gift of N5000 each to 24 residents.
