Councillor representing Ward F in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Council Area of Lagos State, Hon. Victor Oludayo Onifade felicitates with Children across the communities in the ward, as they join their counterparts all over the world in commemoration of the 2019 Children’s Day.
The Councillor, who describes children as the hope of tomorrow,calls on them to look forward to a brighter future as his legislative term is committed to their welfare and sound education as he doubles as the Chairman,House committee on Education .
Onifade says, “to build a better tomorrow, we must build our children,” adding that as future leaders,Children require absolute security, proper monitoring, right mentorship and upbringing from both parents and government.
Hon. Victor Onifade notes that it is very imperative for parents, community leaders, teachers and all to be involved in children upbringing to take mentoring seriously and provide good leadership to them.
He reiterates his legislative tenure’s commitment to pushing, lobbying ,taking and proposing measures that will revamp the education sector in the local council area by ensuring that out of school children and those of school age are bequeathed basic and sound education in line with his party manifesto and plan.
He describes education as the best weapon of preparing children for leadership and resultant peaceful and a prosperous society.
In the true spirit of the children’s day celebration,Activities such as quiz, Beauty peagent, Dance competition, Cultural Dance and lots of gifts in cash and kind were awarded to prospective students from schools within the ward with exemplary conduct.In the quiz competition,Iju Ajuwon community primary school came 1st,Ogundimu Nursery and primary school came 2nd and Bento Nursery and primary school came 3rd.
For the beauty peagent which is the high point of the Celebration,Mrs Motunrayo Onifade,the wife of the honorable Councillor moderated the event in which Miss Ayoola Mistura of Iju Ajuwon Community primary school emerged as winner; the first runner up went to Ernest Favour of Ogundimu Primary school; Bashorun Ikmat of Iju Ajuwon commercial Primary school emerged as the 2nd runner up and lastly, Mary Mathew of Iju Ajuwon Community school emerged as the 3rd runner up.
Onifade also tasks parents and guardians to be vigilant on their children in view of recent happenings in the society, where some unscrupulous elements take advantage to sully their future.
The fiesta which was well attended had Mr Opajobi, House Leader, Hon. Abiodun Akinola, Hon. David Olaniyi, Hon. Maruf Ojugbele, Hon. Babatunde Jokotoye, Chairman Revenue Committee, Ifako-Ijaiye LG, Mr Jude Ndoh, the APC Deputy Chairman, Hon. Kamoru Summonu, Mr Shakiru Bababunmi, Mr Oloniyo, Community leaders among others in attendance.
