Lagos State University (LASU) course-mates of suspected ritualist, Owolabi Adeeko, have opened up on the character of Owolabi suspected to have killed his girlfriend and fellow student of LASU, Favour Daley-Oladele.

Owolabi who ought to have graduated last year from the Department of Sociology but for carry-over in a few courses had admitted to killing Favour with assistance and connivance of a ‘prophet’ in Osun State.

A few of his course-mates who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed shock at the unfortunate incident.

“We are all shocked because Owolabi was always well-behaved. He was a quiet student and not one you could suspect to have any evil motive,” said a female student who preferred not to be named.

According to her, Owolabi’s mother was always checking up on him on campus and it was obvious that she loves his son.”

Another course mate who volunteered information said he noticed something about Owolabi towards the end of their 400-level last year. “I noticed that he got a bit darker in complexion. He is fair-skinned but at a time he turned a shade darker. I was not the only who noticed it, some other students also made reference to his appearance. He even started growing beard. Again, he was withdrawn. I personally attributed that to the fact that he may be feeling sad he was not going to graduate with us. But on the issue of ritual killing, I could swear that he would never do such a thing”.

One of the course-mates said to be close to him, said there was no sign in his character that he would hurt a fly let alone getting involved in ritual killing. “Ask anybody in that department, even the lecturers, nobody could ever have suspected that Owolabi, an easy-going student, would one day be linked to ritual murder and cannibalism,”  he said.

Some of his course-mates also conjectured that he may have been influenced by bad boys, an euphemism for cultists.

Meanwhile, the Police Command, Osun State, had exhumed the corpse of Miss Favour Daley-. The commissioner of police, Osun State, Babatunde Kokumo led his team to Ikoyi-Ile in Isokan local government where the body was exhumed.

The Commissioner while addressing newsmen after the exhumation said: “We are all aware of the gruesome killing of a student of LASU. The killing has been traced to Ikoyi -Ile. In furtherance of the investigation started by the Ogun State Command. We have brought our homicide expert to exhume and help in the furtherance of the investigations started by the Ogun state police command with a view to prosecuting the suspects. This will further help Ogun State police with the investigation process.”
