Jamila Muhammmad Sani, the wife to Abdulmalik Tanko, the prime suspect in the murder of five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar, has been discharged by the Kano Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibrin.
Jamila, 30, was docked over the allegation of hiding a kidnapped victim for a period of five days.
The court discharged the defendant after proving that she has no case to answer in the ongoing trial of her husband.
Kano State Counsel, Barrister Lamido Abba Soron Dinki, informed the court that investigation has revealed that Jamila has no knowledge of the allegation of kidnapping, concealing torture and killing of Hanifa alleged to had been committed by her husband and his two other co-defendants.
Jamila has expressed her happiness and joy immediately after the proceedings.
She had testified against her husband on Thursday in the ongoing trial against him before Kano State High Court presided by Justice Usman Naabba.
In her evidence, Jamila told the court that when he (Tanko) brought Hanifa to the house, he told her that the girl was a daughter to his staff who secured a job in Saudi Arabia and had gone to Abuja to process a visa.
She said he took the girl after five days in her custody.
