The distribution of COVID-19 palliatives have commenced in Borno State.
The palliatives provided by the federal government through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, was distributed by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and supervised by Borno State Government through it’s agency State Emergency Management Agency.
The distribution was kickstarted at Kala Balge local government area of the state on Monday.
The Minister of Human Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouk during her visit to the state last week had delivered the palliatives whereas at one of NEMA warehouse to the Borno State Governor.
The governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum had promised to ensure that the goods where distributed to the expected targets in collaboration with NEMA.
During the Monday’s flag off in Kala-Balge, the governor commended the federal government for always been there for the state in times of need.
He noted that President Muhammadu Buhari has always been there for the state through the pains of Boko Haram and during times of natural disaster and fire incidents.
He recalled that just last week the president sent a large relief materials to the state to assist the victims of fire incident at the Muna IDP camp.
He promised that he would ensure that the palliatives get to those that they were meant for.
The palliatives were distributed by the Acting Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Isah Chinonko with the assistance of Chairperson of Borno Emergency Management Agency (BOSEMA), Hajiya Yabawa Kolo.
