The Federal Government has confirmed five new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria, bringing the number of cases to 8, while another case has been discovered in Katsina.
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire confirmed the cases during a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He explained that three of the victims came from the United States of America including a mother and child while two others also from the US, an American who came via the nation’s land border.
One of the cases is from Ekiti, while four are in Lagos.
This comes after Minister of Health Osagie Ehanire on Tuesday confirmed a third case of the virus in Lagos, making it the third case in the country.
The person who is a 30-year-old Nigerian female returned from the United Kingdom on March 13, observed self-isolation and developed symptoms, thereby testing positive.
The lady is currently at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Yaba and contact tracing has commenced.
