COVID-19: Lagos, Kano remain hotbed as Nigeria gets 196 new cases

Lagos and Kano States recorded the highest number of new Coronavirus cases as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) releases latest figures which puts Nigeria’s Coronavirus daily cases at 196.

It was the highest discovery in a day. The new figure pushes the total national Coronavirus figure to 1,728.

According to the figure released 11.55 pm, NCDC said Lagos has 87 fresh cases, while Kano recorded 24.

Also, Gombe rakes in 18 fresh cases, while Kaduna recorded 17 new cases of the deadly virus,

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, recorded 16 new cases; Katsina, 10; Sokoto, eight; Edo, seven; Borno, six; Yobe, one, Ebonyi, one and Adamawa, one.

Yobe has become the 34th state in Nigeria to join the league of those infected with the virus, recording its index case.

Only Cross River and Kogi States are yet to record any case of Coronavirus.

“196 new cases of #COVID19 reported; 87-Lagos, 24-Kano, 18-Gombe, 17-Kaduna, 16-FCT, 10-Katsina, 8-Sokoto, 7-Edo, 6-Borno, 1-Yobe, 1-Ebonyi and 1-Adamawa.

“As at 11:55pm 29th April- 1728 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 307; Deaths: 51,” NCDC said on its twitter handle.
