COVID -19 Palliatives: NYSC partners Lagos council

CHAIRMAN, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, has applauded the gesture of  National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) members undergoing their mandatory one year service in the local government, for donating food items to the vulnerable and needy across all the seven wards in  the council area, as part of efforts to cushion the effects of the lockdown over the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the presentation at the council’s Area office at Bola Ahmed Tinubu way, Iju ,the State NYSC Chapter Coordinator , Mr Eddy Mengua, told the gathering that  “the Corp members have decided to give back from a fraction of their monthly allowance, to the community in appreciation of the good fortune and reception it has enjoyed over time in the course of the service year”.

He humorously said further that, “ what is happening across the world is strange especially in our dear country Nigeria where everybody is wearing face masks like masquerade which is alien to our social lives but despite the inconvenience and challenges caused by the pandemic, We still have to be grateful to God for the minimal  impact, Set back and Casualties in our country compared to other nations of the world”.
Mengua said, though the gift may not be enough but since it came from the heart of the Corp members , It should be received with joy, despite their meager

 resources via allowance.
The Council helmsman profoundly and sincerely appreciated the State NYSC Chapter Coordinator, and his team  for their kindhearted gifts. He opined that, COVID-19 pandemic has rubbished technology, Medicine and Science as we speak but that we owe God  special thanks for his mercies, hence many did not even wake up this morning.
He further said, “When the State Coordinator Called to inform him of the initiative, He was taken aback because of the meager resources but because the time we are call for personal sacrifices in supporting the less privileged, vulnerable and the needy in our society. He prayed to God to be kind to Lagos State NYSC, Ifako-Ijaiye Council Chapter for their unprecedented kind gesture and sacrifices. He also used the occasion to wish the entire workforce of the council area a Happy Workers Day hence the day coincide with the Workers Day Celebration.
The Council Chairman and the Councillors personally presented the food gift items to the recipients with other Supervisors .
