COVID-19 procedures: Dubai goes tough on travellers from Nigeria, South Africa, India

Travellers from Nigeria, South Africa and India are expected to have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine before entering Dubai in United Arab Emirates

Authorities in Dubai on Saturday announced a revision in the former procedures that allowed travellers coming from these entry without much restrictions.

The new changes will go into effect from Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

The statement said for passengers from India entry will be permitted to residents who have received two doses of UAE-approved vaccines.

All travellers from India are also required to present a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 48 hours before departure; there is however exemption for UAE citizens traveling from India.

The statement equally said only QR coded PCR test result certificates are accepted and that all passengers must take a rapid PCR test four hours prior to flight departure.

Passengers are also expected to undergo a PCR test on arrival at Dubai Airport.

They are equally to undergo institutional quarantine until they receive their PCR test result, which is expected within 24 hours.

The statement however said UAE citizens and diplomats are exempted.

Those from South Africa are equally expected to undergo the same procedures as travellers from India, with transit

passengers also expected to comply with entry protocols of final destinations.

In the case of travellers from Nigeria, apart from complying with the procedures for South Africa and India, they are to present a negative PCR test certificate with a QR code from labs approved by the Nigerian government.
