Stricter measures have put in place in Yobe State to combat the spread of coronavirus.
A statement by Yobe State Police Command on Monday said it will start the enforcement of movement restriction and check against social gathering in all the 17 local government areas of the state.
This statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim read that: “This is to inform the general public that, Yobe State Police Command, will commence the enforcement of restriction of movement and social gathering in all 17 LGAs of the state.
“There will be overnight curfew which commences from 8pm to 6am daily with effect from today 4th May, 2020.”
The statement added that: “Furthermore, the boundaries/border closure with other states will be sustained until further notice with the exception of person(s) foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and items under exemption.”
It warned that: “Any person(s) found in the street in violation of the curfew will be arrested and prosecuted. This is based on the federal Government orders announced on 27th April, 2020 and the resolution passed by the Yobe State committee on the fight against COVID-19, today 4th May, 2020. This comes as a result of the growing number of infected persons with the virus in the state.”
The Commissioner of Police enjoined the general public to cooperate with the authorities in the fight against the deadly virus and support the police in the discharge of their statutory duties.
