Democracy Day: Buni calls for prayer on improved peace, security and development

Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Mai-Mala Buni has said the Democracy Day (today) should be used to pray for improved peace, security and development of the the nation.

The governor, in a statement on Thursday  said Nigerians should go to mosques and churches to seek the face of God and ask the restoration peace, security and development of Yobe state and the entire nation.

He added that Democracy Day occassion should be used to appreciate Almighty Allah for the uninterrupted democratic governance enjoyed in the country.

The Governor observed that democracy has undoubtedly propelled speedy development in Yobe state, which has to be sustained and improved upon for the betterment of the state and the people.

He said: “Yobe state has moved so fast with lots of programmes and projects executed by various governments which have improved the lives of our people. We should therefore use the occassion to appreciate almighty Allah and promote democracy to thrive stronger.

“Our people have had the opportunity of participating in governance through elected representatives to defend their interests at all levels and this has translated into purposeful governance and development.”

He however assured that his administration will promote democracy, healthy competition, rule of law and equality.

Buni urged the people to remain law abiding, promote peaceful coexistence and be vigilant on issues that are inimical to peace.

He also expressed optimism that in spite of the challenges faced by the country, Nigeria will emerge stronger.
