Borno State Government on Thursday attributed the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state to flagrant disregard of federal government’s ban on inter-state travels.
The state in the last one week recorded about 100 cases.
Addressing the media, the State Commissioner of Health, Dr Salihu Kwayabura said the COVID-19 response team has increase the testing capacity of the state to cover the increased number of passengers coming to the state.
He said the committee has taken necessary measures to prevent devastation due to the second wave of the pandemic, calling on residents to be extra vigilant.
He said the response team has stepped up awareness campaign on preventive measures against Coronavirus and have also fortified health facilities across the state to prevent any possible outbreak.
On the rising cases of renal failure, Kwayabura explained that a research team has been set up to investigate the remote and immediate courses.
He explained that the new kidney centre at the state specialist hospital has carried out six hundred and seventy-five free dialysis sessions in the last five months to manage patients suffering from kidney problems.
